Kenya and Germany have reaffirmed their commitments to enhance their bilateral relations.

During a Monday meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on the sidelines of the G20 Compact with Africa Investment Summit in Berlin, Kenyan President William Ruto said Kenya is keen on fast-tracking labour agreements between the two countries to enhance labour mobility.

According to the Kenyan leader, the structured migration will stem illegal relocation.

He added that it will also give Kenyans more opportunities to work in Germany.

At the same time, the two leaders agreed on the significance of directing investments toward Africa, appreciating its competitiveness.

On his part, Chancellor Scholz lauded Kenya’s role in capacity building and support in the upcoming elections in DRC Congo and South Sudan.

The German Chancellor committed to assisting Kenya in the Haiti Mission.

President Ruto asked for Chancellor Scholz's support for Germany in advocating for reforms in the International Financial Architecture to address the debt crisis affecting nations in the Global South.

Ruto is on a two-day official visit to Germany and France. The trip aims to strengthen economic connections between the two countries and the European Union.
