The US government has offered a $5 million reward for information leading to the arrest of al-Shabaab's main leader, Abukar Ali Adan.
According to the US Department of State's Rewards for Justice (RFJ) program, Abukar Ali Adan is the deputy leader of al-Shabaab.
Adan was officially designated as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) in 2018 by the US administration.
Adan is also associated with al-Qa’ida affiliates.
“We encourage anyone with information on Abukar Ali Adan to contact Rewards for Justice via Signal, Telegram, or WhatsApp at +1-202-702-7843, or via local tip lines at +254 71 87 12 366 in Kenya and +252 68 43 43 308 in Somalia," said the USUS Department of State's Rewards for Justice Program.
“All information will be kept strictly confidential. Relocation for individuals submitting information that leads to the identification or location of Abukar Ali Adan may be possible.”
Al-Shabaab, the Somali-based terror group, is responsible for terrorist attacks in Kenya, Somalia, and neighbouring countries. Many people have lost their lives as a result of such attacks.
The department said the group continues plotting, planning, and conspiring to commit terrorist acts against the United States, USUS interests, and foreign partners.
