The AfriSummit 2023 was held in Cairo, Egypt, from October 8 to 11, 2023.

The conference offered a forum for senior healthcare authorities and industry professionals to discuss the most recent changes in pharmaceutical and medical device laws and innovations in the African healthcare supply chain.

It drew over 300 participants from various industries and an exceptional lineup of over 80 thought leaders.

At the PharmaReg AfriSummit and MedDevReg AfriSummit, dignitaries from important African healthcare authorities and institutions took the stage to provide insights into their various regulatory frameworks and emphasize the importance of the event in improving compliance and raising healthcare standards.

Both Summits, PharmaReg AfriSummit and MedDevReg, were enhanced with unique insights and updates from the pharmaceutical and medical device industries provided by governmental and field expert speakers from several African nations.

Dr. Najiba Al Shezawy, Co-Founder and Managing Director of PRA Consultancy, the driving force behind AfriSummit, stressed the need for pharmaceutical regulatory and compliance understanding in maintaining the growing pace.

"African governments have made it their mission to elevate their healthcare capabilities to global standards. While the continent currently imports 80% of its medicines, several African nations are witnessing a surge in pharmaceutical manufacturing,” said Dr. Najiba.

“A strong grasp of pharmaceutical regulations is indispensable to maintain this momentum and ensure rapid patient access to life-saving medications."

At the same time, Dr. Mona Al Moussli, Co-Founder and Managing Director of PRA consultancy hailed the global acceptance of African healthcare standards.

Dr. Mona said, "Even in the face of unprecedented challenges, African nations have garnered international acclaim for their healthcare standards. Robust pharmaceutical regulations and adherence to compliance standards complement the exceptional healthcare infrastructure and standards that Africa has diligently developed."
