The Friendship Circle, TFC non-governmental organization with base in the USA will raise funds to equip over 20 hospitals in Cameroon with medical supplies and hospital beds.
The organisation that aims to alleviate poverty within African communities and equip young people to become self-sufficient on the continent will embark on the TFC weekend from Aug 11-Aug 13 with a variety of engaging and high-profile activities that will culminate in its annual gala. Under the theme “Hope, Health and Charity,” the annual gala and fundraiser will take place on Aug 13 from 6pm to 1pm with over 300 participants expected in attendance.
TFC looks forward to raising a substantial amount that will also help to assist orphanages and to organise workshops to train youths on new skills and empowerment.
The US-based nongovernmental organisation has carried out several humanitarian activities in Cameroon and Africa since its creation in 2015, focusing primarily on empowering young people through executive conferences, skill-building, competitions, and finding investment opportunities.
According to its President Njukang Asong ,the Friendship Circle (TFC) was established in 2015 by a group of friends from Cameroon with diverse backgrounds and professions. The organization is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit entity in the State of Maryland, dedicated to creating a positive impact in our communities. TFC’s main goal is to raise funds in accordance with the law, providing donors with tax-exempt benefits.
“Our community outreach initiatives focus on providing health awareness counseling, medical supplies, empowering young individuals through executive conferences, skill-building sessions, competitions, and identifying investment opportunities,” says Njukang Asong a dynamic Entrepreneur and Community Leader in PG County, Maryland.
On its previous activities, Njukang Asong says the TFC has been actively engaged in promoting educational and healthcare initiatives, along with various empowerment programs. This year, TFC settled on hospitals as focus due to the pressing need for improved healthcare infrastructure in Cameroon.
“Through the HHEC Fundraiser Gala, we aim to gather funds that will be channeled towards supporting healthcare facilities and making quality medical services accessible to the underprivileged,” says Njukang Asong.
For those anticipating participation in the event, Asong says they can expect an evening filled with inspiration, networking, and a deep sense of purpose. The gala will take place on August 13, 2023, at the Civic Center in Silver Spring, Maryland. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, learn about TFC’s projects and achievements, and contribute to the noble cause of uplifting the underprivileged communities in Cameroon, Asong says.
Made up of dynamic Cameroonians of diverse backgrounds and professions, TFC at its inception. was as a social club, providing support during significant life events such as baby showers, weddings, and more, while also promoting professional growth, social bonding, and community service. Over time, its membership swelled exponentially with dynamic professionals offering mutual support during events like weddings, baby showers, birthdays, funerals, job sharing, and professional development.
A turning point for the organization came in April 2018 with the passing of one of its members, Mr. Charles Bisong (Charlo Biz Biz), to cancer. This tragedy ignited a new mission within TFC to give back to the community and make a positive impact in any way possible.
TFC’s charity efforts include donating clothing, shoes, food, home and hospital equipment, and merchandise to orphanages and other needy centers in Cameroon and across Africa.
