Kiroyera Tours Company in the Kagera Region, Northwest of Tanzania, which provides various Travel and Tourism services in the country and beyond, has indicated that the Lake Victoria potential need to be utilised sufficiently to create jobs and produce revenue for Kagera Region locals.
Kiroyera Tours CEO Mary Kalikawe stated that the company is devoted to ensuring Lake Victoria's prospects for promoting regional economic growth are fully utilised through various tactics.
"This Lake hasn't been fully utilised to boost tourism in the country. We have contacted and connected to people versed with knowledge about opportunities to invest in Tourism in the lake", said Kalikawe.
One of the strategies is to hold a one-week celebration from July 1-7, 2023. During the festival, there will be excursions to several interesting sites, such as the national parks of Burigi-Chato and Ibanda-Kyerwa, the waterfalls of Kyamunene and Bugonzi, the islands of Musira, Goziba, and Bumbire, and heritage and historical sites. The festival will be attended by more than 400 participants from East African countries.
On July 7, a special conference titled "Unlocking Kagera Tourism Gateway for Job Creation and Income Generation" will also take place. Cuthbert Nkube, Executive President of the Africa Tourism Board, will be the chief guest.
The conference will be followed by a night banquet to honour the late Superious Kalemera, alias Mr. Super as the brave, fearless, and dynamic leader who pushed Lake Victoria tourism.
Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Mohamed Mchengerwa, will be the chief guest at the gala ceremony.
