Tanzania, Hungary For Stronger Ties To Bolster Education

The governments of Tanzania and Hungary have agreed to continue improving cooperation in the areas related to education of which the two countries will benefit from student exchange programs.

The relationship between Tanzania and Hungary has flourished in areas such as education, where Hungary has been sponsoring various students here in Tanzania, especially bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and PhDs in science, engineering, mathematics, communication, and many others.

Tanzania President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan has said that the cooperation between Tanzania and Hungary has many fruits in the education sector and the two countries will continue to cooperate more in the area.

"In education, Hungary has been a very important partner for Tanzania, especially in higher learning education,” President Samia told the media in Dar es Salaam State House at the reception of Hungarian President Katalin Novak

Dr Samia has further said: “You have witnessed us signing an agreement to further strengthen our cooperation in the education sector."

She added: "This agreement comes with new plans of which   students from Hungary will also benefit from the program and come to Tanzania for studies in our universities and from this year we will start receiving five students while Hungary will receive 30 students from Tanzania and the numbers will be increasing."

However, the President of Hungary, Katalin Novák, started her three-day visit to the country from July 17 to July 20, 2023.

Ms. Novak met her host, President Samia on July 18, 2023, at the State House in Dar es Salaam.

Tanzania and Hungary have had good diplomatic and economic relations since the 1980s. Despite a slump in later years, relations are now returning to how they were before.

While in Tanzania, President Novak will also visit various attractions in the Arusha region and will travel back to Hungary via Kilimanjaro International Airport on July 20, 2023.

She was elected President of the Republic of Hungary last year.

At 45, Ms Novak is the youngest president of the country and the first woman to hold the office.
