The Head of the European Union Elections Observer mission in Sierra Leone’s election Evin Incir has told journalists that they have observed some delays in the opening of polling stations in many all across the country.
‘’ For now We have observed some delays in the opening in many places all across the country but we will of course have more fair view when observing a couple of more hours of the day, ‘’ she said, adding that they hope that the polling stations will open soon so that every citizens will cast their vote .
Speaking to journalists during a short presser, Evin Incir added that elections are the core of any democracies all across the world adding that today is important day in the west African nation thus urging citizens to use their democratic rights to go and vote peacefully.
‘’its elections day here in Sierra Leone and elections are the core of any democracies here in Sierra Leone and all across the world. Therefore, it is important for very body to use their democratic right and go and vote in a peaceful,’’
‘’From our side of the European Union, we have over 100 observers all over the country in all the 16 districts right now. we have those who are observing in both urban and rural areas. The right of each voter to cast their vote in a peaceful manner is very important,’’ added the EU observer elections chief.
Fuhard Kanu 34, said he has been at the queue since 5am has not cast his vote thus stating his disappointment over the slow process in the electoral body over the delay.
‘’ I am disappointed with the way the Electoral Commission is conducting g this election. we have been here since 5am and up till no electioneering process have started. This is sad. Today is an important day. We deserve more for our institutions, ‘’ he said.
