Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia returned to the top of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League standings on Sunday after completing a 2-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars at Kasarani Stadium.
Midfielder John Macharia gave Gor Mahia a lead three minutes after the kick-off before Austine Odhimbo made it 2-0 after six minutes.
This is after defending champions Tusker suffered a 2-1 shock defeat to Wazito FC.
Gor has reclaimed first place with 67 points, two more than Tusker, with two games remaining in the 2022-2023 season.
Nzoia Sugar is in third position with 63 points, and Kenya Police and KCB are in fourth and fifth positions, respectively, with 60 points each.
Gor Mahia will host Kakamega Homeboyz on June 10 before facing City Stars seven days later. On the other hand, Tusker have a date with Poster Rangers on June 8 and Vihiga Bullets on June 17.
