Burkina Faso’s Stephane Aziz Ki and Ghanaian Bernard Morrison have on Wednesday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam helped Tanzania football champions Young Africans to take a step closer to CAF Confederation Cup final after scoring goals against South Africans’ Marumo Gallants F.C.

After controlling the match in the first half, Limpopo Province-based team loses control in the last 30 minutes of the play after giving a chance to Young Africans international striker Aziz Ki in 64 minutes to score the first goal of the play his team.

However, it was ‘Super Ben’, the Ghanaian who smashed the Gallants after receiving a clear pass from Congolese international striker Fiston Mayele in a counter-attack and the blackboard of the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium shows Young Africans the host 2 and nil for Marumo Gallants.

The Tanzanian giants’ response was swift, the Jangwani Boys from Dar es Salaam seizing the advantage to smash two goals in a tough game that saw the South Africans' ball possession recording 51 per cent against 49 of the Tanzanian football club.

The encounter kick off at 4 pm East African Time and was officiated by Egyptian referees. The Referee Mahmoud El Banna was at the centre of the pitch and he was assisted by Ahmed Hossam Taha and Samy Halhal while the reserve referee was Mahmoud Nagi.

The match in Dar es Salaam was very crucial for the Young Africans who are now targeting to make history by qualifying for the finals of the competition for the first time.

Yanga head coach Nasreddine Nabi said after the match that the match has not ended until it ends next week in the second leg which will be held at the Venue Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Phokeng, North-West in South Africa.

However, Young Africans eliminated Rivers United of Nigeria on 2-0 goal aggregates to reach the semi-final stage for the first time in their history. They won 2-0 away and later recorded a barren draw at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

Marumo Gallants, who are under Ex- Simba Sports Club head coach Dylan Kerr reached the semi-final stage after eliminating Egyptian side Pyramids FC on 2-1 goal aggregates.

Kerr said after the match in Dar es Salaam that to come back against Yanga in a 2-0, is very difficult, but adding that in football everything is possible.
