By Samuel Ouma The government of Kenya has unveiled a seven-member team to engage in a bi-partisan talk with the opposition to restore calm in the nation. The team was unveiled on Tuesday following the Kenya Kwanza, the ruling coalition, Parliamentary Group Meeting held at the State House, Nairobi. The seven members include Senators Boni Khalwale, Senator Hillary Sigei, and Essy Okenyuri. The rest are MPs Lydia Haika, George Murugara, Kibwezi Mwengi Mutuse, and MP Adan Keynan. The team remained committed to ensuring the committee fully addressed the faction's concerns. "We agreed with the President on the need to govern the country with the constitution and the rule of law," read the statement in part. The opposition, Azimio la Umoja coalition, for their part, unveiled a seven-member team on Thursday, April 6. They are Senators Ledama Ole Kina, Edwin Sifuna, and Senator Enock Wambua. The rest include MPs Millie Odhiambo, Amina Mnyazi, David Pkosing, and Otiende Amollo. Among the subjects that the groups will address are the appointment of commissioners for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the country's increased food, petrol, and energy prices. President Ruto requested the meeting on April 2, when he encouraged opposition leader Raila Odinga to end anti-government protests and hold discussion talks to resolve their issues.
