Cameroon: Dr Denis Foretia Wins ACS/SSAT Health Policy and Management Scholarship

By Boris Esono Nwenfor [caption id="attachment_105959" align="alignnone" width="800"] The 2023 Executive Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management program is scheduled for June 4 - 10[/caption] BUEA, April 27, 2023 – Dr Denis Foretia, co-chair of the Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation and Executive Chairman of the Nkafu Policy Institute has won the Health Policy and Management Scholarship organized by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Society for the Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT). The scholarship from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Society for the Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT) will provide Dr Denis Foretia with a stipend to participate in the Executive Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. The 2023 Executive Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management program is scheduled for June 4 - 10. The scholarship is $8,000, which is to be used toward the cost of tuition, travel, housing, and subsistence during the period of the course. The Society for the Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT) is committed to advancing the science and practice of surgery in the treatment of digestive diseases. Dr Foretia received a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at the Johns Hopkins University and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the Carey School of Business also at the Johns Hopkins University. “Beyond thrilled to be selected for this amazing Health Policy and Management program. Many thanks to the American College of Surgeons and the Society for the Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT) for this Opportunity,” Dr Denis Foretia Tweeted. Dr Denis Foretia currently leads the Center for Multicultural and Global Health at the University of Tennessee where he also serves as associate director of the Global Surgery Institute. He was previously faculty in the Department of Surgery at Johns Hopkins University and a staff acute care surgeon at LifeBridge Health in Baltimore.
