By Samuel Ouma [caption id="attachment_104370" align="alignnone" width="960"] Lionesses in the previous event[/caption] Kenya's national women's basketball team, popularly known as 'Lionesses', on Monday jetted in Kampala, Uganda, for the 2023 FIBA Women's Afrobasket Zone Five Qualifiers. The team consists of 12 players, eight locally based and four foreign players. The foreign-based players include captain Rose Ouma who plays in the United Arab Emirates, Victoria Reynolds, who trades Imortal Tcars, Portugal and Mercy Wanyama, who plays for AD Cortegada in Spain. The qualifiers have attracted five teams which will start on Tuesday and last through February 19 at the MTN Lugogo Arena. They include Uganda, Egypt, Kenya, South Sudan and Rwanda. The winner will represent the region at the All Africa Games in Accra, Ghana, in August, and the Afrobasket championship in Kigali, Rwanda, in December.
