By Jorge Joaquim Mozambican authorities dismantled an illegal factory assembling iPhones in Maputo, arresting two Chinese people and seizing 1,165 counterfeit mobile phones and various materials used in the piracy of the software of the devices. The factory was capable of complex technical procedures, including assembly and setting up the handset. The mobile phones were being sold without a licence from the communications regulatory authority INCM, or customs declaration, Gino Jone of the Mozambican customs told the press. He added that during the investigation, after an anonymous tip-off, INCM tried to track the devices to detect their frequency, but it was not possible. However, the owners of the factory said their operations were legal. The case is now in a Mozambican court.
