Kenya: President William Ruto’s Portrait Goes For $3

By Samuel Ouma The Kenyan government is selling the Presidential portrait of William Ruto at Ksh300 ($3). In a statement issued on Thursday, September 15, 2022, the Government Spokesperson Col.Rtd. Cyrus Oguna asked his compatriots to pick the portraits from the Department of Information at the 5th floor, Uchumi House, Nairobi. Meanwhile, individuals at the county and sub-county levels can get their copies from County and Sub- County Information Officers. "Following the inauguration into the office of H.E Hon. William Samoei Ruto, as the President of the Republic of Kenya, we wish to inform our people that presidential portraits are now available. They can be collected from the Department of Information at the 5th floor, Uchumi House, Agakhan Walk, Nairobi. Offices and individuals at the county and sub-county levels can get their copies from County/Sub-County Information Officers," said Oguna. A portrait of the current President must be displayed in government institutions and commercial enterprises, a tradition dating back to the 1960s. President Ruto has come up with a new presidential Portrait design, with a Kenyan flag in the background, unlike his predecessors.
