NEHAWU KZN to launch a Public Health Service Delivery Campaign on Friday

By Thandisizwe Mgudlwa Driving campaign together with a wide range of progressive organisations within the mass democratic movement and outside the movement.This week the National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union [NEHAWU] in KwaZulu-Natal province announced that it will launch a public health service delivery campaign kickstarting on Friday, August 05, 2022.According to Nehawu, the service delivery campaign will focus on the following issues amongst others: filling of the all the vacant posts, infrastructural challenges, inadequate equipment, health and safety, safety and security, insourcing of all the outsourced services, implementation of the NHI, absorption of the Community Health Workers and translation of Nurses.The union adds that these issues remain a challenge in improving the health sector hence the union has decided to embark on this critical and important public health sector campaign.The union will also use this campaign as a platform to fight for the implementation of the National Health Insurance whilst also fighting against the deep rooted crisis in the health system.Nehawu will be driving this campaign together with a wide range of progressive organisations within the mass democratic movement and outside the movement. The campaign will be launched on the 5th August 2022 and will take place in the following areas: Phoenix Mortuary; Durban- Main Launch at 12h00; Ladysmith Regional Hospital; Ladysmith at 13h00; Harry Gwala Regional Hospital; Pietermaritzburg at 13h00; Ngwelezane Tertiary Hospital; Empangeni at 13h00; the union will deliver a memorandum to the MEC for Health in KwaZulu Natal, Nomagugu Simelane at Phoenix Mortuary.Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the launch of the public health service delivery campaign.
