Kenya wins first African relay title

By Samuel Ouma [caption id="attachment_97271" align="alignnone" width="719"] Omanyala[/caption] Ferdinand Omanyala of Kenya won the 4x100m relay on Friday at the Africa Senior Athletics Championships in Reduit, Mauritius, at the Cote d'Or National Sports Complex. Omanyala took 39.28 seconds to bag the first gold for his country in 4x100m at a continental event. The African 100m champions beat South African’s Akani Simbine, who emerged second in 39.79 seconds. Zimbabwe and Nigeria came third and fourth, taking 39.81 seconds and 39.98 respectively. The win came a day after cruising to victory in the Men's 100m race by 0.003 ahead of former African Champion Akani Simbine. He clocked 9.93 seconds. He has become the second Kenyan to win gold in the 100m in the Championships after legendary Joseph Gikonyo.
