Kenya: Governor Lee Kinyanjui appoints Franciscar Jelagat Kamuren as his running mate

By Samuel Ouma [caption id="attachment_96708" align="alignnone" width="702"] Franciscar Jelagat Kamuren[/caption] Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has unveiled Ms. Franciscar Jelagat Kamuren as his running mate in the race for the Nakuru governorship in the upcoming August elections. “After long consultations with diverse stakeholders, I have decided to appoint Ms.Franciscar Jelagat Kamuren as running mate for my second term bid,” read his Facebook post. Governor Kinyanjui described Ms. Kamuren as an accomplished grassroot mobiliser with a strong passion for community development. He also revealed that the 47-year-old woman holds a Masters degree in linguistics from Egerton University and has held several public appointments. Kinyanjui will defend his seat on the Jubilee ticket. On the other hand, his main opponent, the United Democratic Alliance's candidate Susan Kihika has nominated David Kones. Addressing journalists on Monday, May 16, 2022, Kihika said Kones was among the 16 candidates who offered themselves to be running mate. "We have nominated David Kones after a thorough selection process. He will be my running mate for the Nakuru County gubernatorial seat under the UDA and Kenya Kwanza alliance, "Kihika stated.
