Kenya:Raila to return to the country on Wednesday

By Samuel Ouma [caption id="attachment_96143" align="alignnone" width="1280"] Raila Odinga held multiple meetings while in Washington,DC[/caption] Kenya’s Chief opposition leader Raila Odinga will return to the country on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, to attend to attend ex-president Mwai Kibaki’s burial. The ODM party boss left the country on Friday for a seven-day trip in the US. Odinga to meet American leaders and Kenyans leaving in the US. “Azimio la Umoja -One Kenya Coalition flag-bearer Rt Hon Raila Odinga will cut short his ongoing US trip and travel back home on Wednesday ahead of the burial of the former President Mwai Kibaki,” read a statement released by Odinga's Presidential Campaign Secretariat Press Secretary Dennis Onsarigo. Upon his arrival on Saturday, Odinga held town hall meetings with Kenyans living in Washington DC on Sunday. Today (Monday), he is scheduled for meetings with corporate America. He will brief them on prevailing opportunities in Kenya and Africa, call for collaboration in the war against corruption. The AU special envoy will meet with officials from the executive branch of the US government on Tuesday. The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance presidential flagbearer was also scheduled to meet with key US Senate and congressional leaders on Capitol Hill, the legislative arm of the US government. He was also expected to meet thought leaders from the Atlantic Council and the Centre for Global Development Think Tanks. Odinga is being accompanied by Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, governors Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Ndiritu Muriithi (Laikipia) and James Ongwae (Kisii). Also in the entourage are former Kenyan Envoy to US Elkanah Odembo,  Senator Moses Kajwang' and MP Robert Mbui. Kibaki, third President of Kenya, died on Friday, April 22, 2022, and will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 30.
