Sierra Leone: We are sponsoring four football clubs with LE 1 Billion in the next three years Says Orange Sierra Leone CEO

By Ishmael Sallieu Koroma [caption id="attachment_93409" align="alignnone" width="624"] L- Minister of Sports in Sierra Leone Ibrahim Nylenkeh and Orange Sierra Leone CEO Madam Aminata Kane Ndiaye[/caption] The Chief Executive Officer of Orange Sierra Leone Madam Aminata Kane Ndiaye has said that her company will sponsor four premier league clubs with 1 billion Leones, providing 2 speed box and 100GB monthly internet connectivity to the clubs in the next three years as part her company’s mission to fuel the spirit and passion of football in the country . Madam Kane made this statement on Tuesday at the Orange Sierra Leone headquarters on Hill Station in Freetown whilst signing a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the four clubs representatives at the ceremony. The four clubs are FC Kallon, FC Johansen, Diamond Star FC and Wusum Stars FC. She said that they are partnering with some of Sierra Leone football clubs to give their undying support to the clubs and the game of football adding that they are using the occasion to officially sign the MOU with these clubs. ‘’This sponsorship is for 3 years. In these three years, we will broadcast your games on all our partner radio stations and push SMS with links to watch the game live. We will provide support to show key marches live on our page. We will provide 2 speed box and 100GB monthly, making internet constantly accessible. Players and club profiling will be done, and we will be giving large financial support.’’ Madam Kane said. Madam Kane added that football is part of the country’s DNA, saying people love the game of football stating that it has served as a mechanism to bring citizens together in good times and in not-so-good times in the country. ‘’We look forward to a great partnership and a win in all our games. We believe this is the continuation of beautiful things, as we are certain that it will get more beautiful for the clubs, shareholders, fans and Orange Sierra Leone. We will keep working together to win together. as we push hard and did better than we have never  done at the 2021 AfCON games , we are certain that  in 2023 we will bring the cup home.’’ The Orange Sierra Leone CEO added. The Orange SL Chief further added that as a company their goal is, through them the game of football will grow in all aspects in the country, thus the association will be strengthened and that they will continually record wins. Chief Marketing officer of Orange Sierra Leone, Abdulai Dieng on his part said that Orange as a company is no stranger to supporting sports, from football to handball from youth to women across the world. ‘’ As you have probably seen during the AFCON , Orange is a big partner of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) , and we are sponsoring five this organization’s major tournaments , Africa cup of nations, U-20 Africa Cup of Nations , the  women Africa Cup of Nations , the CAF Champions League  and the CAF Super Cup,’’ he said . He added that football generates an incredible spirit of unity across communities and people and Orange is proud to reaffirm its commitment to supporting people as they have done for nearly 20 years across the continent. ‘’ This day is also special because we are today to witness another historic moment in Sierra Leone as we will familiarize our relationship with the most successful clubs in Sierra Leone premier league. These clubs for the first time witness the best of the partnership and how we accompany clubs to raise their revenues through the fan base. This strategy is only available with Orange,’’ the Orange Sierra Leone Chief Marketing Officer lamented. Giving the key note speech of the programme , the Minister of Sports Ibrahim Nylenkeh thanked the CEO and the Orange company for their relentless support and contributions of the company to the development of football in the country adding that his ministry is in no doubt with the company as they have done massive strides in football and other disciplines . He said that the four teams that have been chosen by Orange to take advantage of the support and opportunity given to them thus encouraging the teams not to misuse it and to play within the rules of the MOU. The Sports Minister called on the company to think about adding more premier league teams into their sponsorship and to support other sporting disciplines in the country.
