Nakuru Becomes Kenya’s Fourth City

By Samuel Ouma President Uhuru Kenyatta has conferred city status to Nakuru, making the Central Rift town Kenya's 4th City after Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu. The Head of State signed and handed over the Instruments of City Conferment to Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui at the rehabilitated Nyayo Gardens. Ahead of the conferment exercise attended by several national leaders, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, President inaugurated the new Nakuru Disaster Management Centre and the rehabilitated Nyayo Gardens. Following the conferment, Kenyans flooded the social media platforms to express their joy. “It's indeed new dawn not only to you but also to the whole country. Hongera to the County Govt for working tirelessly around the clock to ensure the 4th city has come forth" said the ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi. Korobe Chogem said, “Thank you for uplifting the status of Nakuru.Kudos President Uhuru and Gov Lee Kinyanjui.” “I'm optimistic that Nakuru's new City status will open doors for more infrastructural development, growth of businesses, and bring in more investments,” said Agnes Kagure.
