Kenya’s young star nominated for World Athletics award

By Samuel Ouma [caption id="attachment_90630" align="alignnone" width="2000"] Emmanuel Wanyonyi,[/caption] Emmanuel Wanyonyi, the World Under-20 800m champion, has been nominated for the World Athletics Male Rising Star of the Year award. Wanyonyi will battle it out with the World Under-20 110m hurdles champion Sasha Zhoya of France and World Under-20 3000m champion Tadese Worku of Ethiopia. Erriyon Knighton, the World Under-20 200m record holder, and Sean Burrell, the World Under-20 400m hurdles record holder, are also in contention for the top prize. The prize winner will be chosen by an international panel of experts and announced live on December 1 at the World Athletics Awards 2021.
