Waive School Taxes To Aid Us Implement One Laptop Per Student Policy- UG Vice-Chancellor To President

The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo Addressing guests during her induction ceremony called on the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana ADDO, and its government to waive taxes of the institution to assist her in the implementation of the one student one laptop policy in the university.

According to her, she intends to institute one student, one-laptop policy, where they will collaborate with established ICT institutions to provide the students and staff to have their laptops or handheld device. In her address he said, “Mr. President, in this regard, we will need your support and that of your government to waive taxes for us, making these devices affordable for our students and staff.”

Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo further stated that the implementation of this policy would enhance ICT education at the University, and increase growth and efforts to make the University of Ghana truly a world-class establishment, she further added that without the support of the Government the school would not be able to achieve its goal as it has a lot of financial liabilities.

She lamented that a few issues have consumed the management of University Ghana in recent years and so they are financial liabilities, resulting mainly from judgment debts and botched agreements. She appealed to the government to deliver the school from its rogue that hinders the growth and efforts to be truly world-class” Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo is the new Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs of the University of Ghana.
