Albinism is a genetic condition where people are born without the usual pigment (color) in their bodies. Their bodies aren't able to make a normal amount of melanin, the chemical that is responsible for the eye, skin, and hair color.

Speaking with Mr. Kwame Andrews Daklo, the president of people with albinism in Accra, said over the year’s people with Albinism becomes a laughing stock in some societies and communities. This increases their isolation and affects their Education and businesses. According to him most people with albinism have very pale skin, hair, and eyes.

He further said, hunting of their flesh put much fear in them for participating in activities around them. In the political flame, the politicians believes their body’s boost their chances of winning political power, and that of the rich men and the Gold miners

Due to this, some people in part of Africa think their skin is a curse and therefore are not supposed to be in the midst of social activities. Their persecution is almost entirely based on myth and superstition. Witch doctors operating in Africa believe their body parts possess magical powers.

Ghanaian Undercover Investigative Reporter Anas Aremeyaw Anas went to Malawi to uncover the reason behind killing of the Albinos in the country.

In his investigation into the killing, it was told that footballers, politicians, businessmen believes their bones are really strong in protecting them from any evil eyes and also increases their lack in whatever they are doing.

It also came out that almost every albino leaving in Malawi is walking physically but dead in spirit. These attacks are fuelled by a culture of impunity and authorities must swiftly move to bring suspected perpetrators of these latest crimes to justice in fair trials,” she added.
