Kenyan detectives have launched a manhunt for a cop who fled after shooting dead his colleague in Dol Dol, Laikipia County in the Rift Valley.
Titus Keen was reported to have murdered Leonard Ojwang’ on Tuesday night at Doldol Police Station, where the two officers were sharing a house.
Local police boss Daniel Nyameti said they have not established why the officer killed his colleague.
Eight spent cartridges were recovered from the scene.
The rogue police fled with an armed AK-74 and several rounds of ammunition.
“All officers to be alert and be on the lookout for the officer who is believed to be heading to his home within Elbisil area in Kajiado County (south of Nairobi). Communicate any information regarding this case with minimum delay. Note that he is in civilian clothing," Laikipia Sub-County Commander, Ancent Kaloki warned.
Police said that the deceased sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of his body, including the head and chest.
One month ago, another cop Caroline Kangogo killed his colleague, John Ogweno, in Nakuru, northwest of Nairobi, before fleeing with her firearm.
She headed to Kiambu, central Kenya, where she killed a security analyst Peter Ndigwa.
After being on the run for weeks, her body was found in her parents’ bathroom in Iten, Kenya’s Rift Valley.
