Webinar offers strategies for communicating new findings1 April 20218:00 AM EDT // 3:00 PM EATRegister here

New York, USA , 30 March 2021 -/African Media Agency (AMA)/- Last week, the Partnership for Evidence-Based COVID-19 Response (PERC) released findings from its third survey, which polled more than 25,000 adults from 19 African Union Member States on the social and economic impacts of COVID-19 and governmental response measures. PERC analyzes public opinion survey responses along with social, economic and epidemiological data.

Some notable findings from the most recent survey include: • Respondents’ willingness to be vaccinated varied widely across the continent—from 35% of respondents in Tunisia to 91% of respondents in Morocco. • Although support for individual preventive measures such as hand-washing and mask-wearing remained high, support for measures restricting social gatherings and movement restrictions dropped dramatically since August 2020.• Income loss and problems with food access were severe in almost all Member States and have largely worsened since August.  This online seminar featuring panelists from Ipsos, Columbia University and the Ghana Health Service is designed for journalists to learn how to use data compiled by PERC accurately and effectively. A Q&A moderated by Rolf Rosenkranz of the Global Health Advocacy Incubator will follow the discussion.

Date: Thursday 1 AprilTime: 08:00 – 09:00 EDT // 14:00-15:00 CATLanguage: English/French To attend the webinar, please registerhere.

Speakers:
• Virginia Nkwanzi Isingoma, Public Affairs Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, IPSOS
• Dr. Wilmot James, Senior Research Scholar, Columbia University, formerly Member of Parliament (South Africa)
