ZAMBIA RECORDS 43 CORONA VIRUS CASES

Zambia has recorded 43 positive cases of Corona virus(Covid 19) since the outbreak of the disease in Wuhan China.

The cases have been traced from locals that have traveled to Italy, Pakistan, France among other countries.

The three latest cases where recorded in the last 24 hours.

However, from the 43 cases recorded the number of active cases are 11 after 30 patients recovered from the illness while two died from the condition.

The country's Minister of health Dr Chitalu Chilufya said this at a press briefing in the country's capital Lusaka on 11 th April, 2020.

"We continue to provide interventions in a multi sectorial manner. We place our resources on preventing new cases by enhancing surveillance, by enhancing quarantine and contact tracing and for those that become ill, we will manage them symptomatically," he said.

Dr Chilufya thanked medical personnel that have been involved in the fight against covid 19.

And he called on citizens in the country to     adhere to the preventive measures of wearing the face masks, cleaning the environment, and social distancing.

The latest death in the country was recorded on the 8 th of April, 2020 while the first death two weeks ago.

The deceased in the latest incident was until his death the bank manager at a state owned bank (Zanaco) Kafue branch.

His name is Kennedy Mweemba of unknown age.

The bank has with effect suspended operations at the bank.

This is contained in a letter addressed to the banks employees from the companys chief Human Resources and taining officer Mumbi Mwila.

"Our members of staff from Kafue branch had contact with the deceased's caregiver who visited the branch on 8 th April, 2020 and following Mr Mweemba's death, some Kafue branch staff visited the funeral house," says part of the letter which was made available to this reporter. Meanwhile the partial lockdown which was announced by the country's President Dr Edgar Lungu has continued with bars and restaurants closed and restrictions on meetings of over 50 people
