The Government of Sierra Leone has today announced that the country will be put on a 14 days partial lock down restricting the movement of person at inter-district levels , except for the transportation of goods and essential services in the country, a press statement from the office of the Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesman has said.
“The general public is here by informed that following the three-day national lock down and the continued threats posed by the Corona Virus (COVID-19) , His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has directed the following additional measures with effect from midnight Saturday 11th April for a period of 14 days subject to review,’’ the press release stated.
According to the release , a pass system authorising the transportation of goods and essential services will be announced before the commencement of the restriction adding that a night curfew from 9:00 pm to 6: 00 am, a re -adjustment of official working hours for all public and private sector workers from 9:00 am to 4:00pm .
“As the Government continues to intensify efforts to curtail the spread of the corona virus Disease, the public is advised to, as far as possible , stay at home and observe basic hygiene Practices,’’
Sierra Leone has recently finished a three -day public lock down which ended on Tuesday night after it has recorded 6 (six ) Covid-19 confirmed cases in the country.
The Small West African country has so far recorded a total of Seven (7) confirmed Covid-19 virus with over two hundred in quarantine according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.
