NAM1 advises Gov’t on how best to fight Covid-19
March 25, 2020
The Covid-19 pandemic is hitting Ghana hard as the cases continue to increase by the day.
Whiles the government is doing its best to contain the
situation, like every other situation in the world, you would find citizens proposing
alternatives to solving the issue.
One of such situations is the proposals from the Chief Executive Officer of the defunct Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, A.K.A, Nam1.
In an Instagram post, Nam1, suggested to the Gov’t to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) to combat the coronavirus pandemic that is wreaking havoc to the world.
According to him, there are various AI technologies that could test and tell, within 20 seconds, the result of a case, adding that “it is a 96% accuracy rate too.”
“The procurement of the AI system developed by a Chinese
tech Baidu, which uses cameras equipped computer vision and infrared sensors to
do temperature predictions of masses in public places that are indispensable
like, Government Ministries and Agencies, transport terminals, Courts market
places and so.
“The AI system is capable of screening up to 200 people per minute and detects their temperature within a range of 0.5 degrees Celsius’, he explained.
He further added that “this artificial intelligence flags
anyone with a temperature above 37.3 degrees Celsius.”
The embattled Nam1 further notes that the coronavirus menace is a national problem and for that matter Government requires the support of every citizen to fight the virus.
Impact of covid-19 on Ghana’s revenues
Ghana has recorded 53 cases with two deaths as at Tuesday,
March 24, 2020.
However, these numbers are expected to rise as more cases tests
are conducted.
Already schools have been shut down as well as a temporal
ban placed on public gatherings and closure of the country’s airports and
borders.
The situation has affected revenue in every facet of the
economy.
Revenue IN the Aviation sector, oil and gas sector, tourism,
among others, have dropped due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
Businesses have started complaining about their losses as
