Turkish Embassy Gambia Mourns Victims of 15th July Coup Attempt

By Bakary Ceesay Turkey's Embassy in The Gambia has remembered those who lost their lives on 15th July, 2016 coup attempt in Turkey. Fetullah Gulen, a ring leader Fetullah Terrorist Organization (feto) is the mastermind of the coup attempt which resulted to the loss of lives of more than 250 innocent civilian and wounded thousands. On 15th July, 2019, during a press conference at Turkey’s Embassy in Banjul, its Ambassador Ismail Sefa Yuceer lamented that it was very difficult for the first time in Turkey history people were attacked from within by soldiers they indiscriminately killed innocent people of more than 250 who took to the street to defend Turkey to show strong ownership of Turkey democracy and they were killed by Fetullah Terrorist organization. He explained that what happen on 15 July, 2016 they used State elements with security structures especially the police and the army so their ultimate aim was to capture the state from within to establish their order so that Fetullah Gulen can be replaced as President most possibly. “But Turkey people show a strong ownership to democracy took to the streets by the power of the President to defend the democracy, they risk their lives stand in the military vehicles and these terrorists used these vehicles indiscriminately shooting at the people,” Ambassador Yuceer added. He pointed out that this event has become very tragic so that the bravely and heroic resistance of people was hold by Turkey’s government that is why today was declare by the government as National Unity and Democracy Day in Turkey. “We are refreshing all our minds in this painful and tragic moment, but on the other hand we can be proud of our nation and the people who fought hard and take a strong ownership to democracy,” he added. He urged the world to be vigilant about the activities of Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO).
