Gambia: Opposition Condemns Freezing of Ex- President Jammeh’s Assets

Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction party (APRC) has condemned the decision of the Justice Minister for freezing former President Yahya Jammeh assets.
After the completion of Independent Inquiry to look into financial dealings of former president Yahya Jammeh and his close associates, Justice Minister Justice Minister Abubacarr Tambadou seized all the assets of Yahya Jammeh.
During, a press conference on Friday Fabakary Tombong Jatta, interim leader of APRC said the decision of the Justice Minister against Jammeh was “selective, hasty, ill-advised and illegal”
“This is a deliberate campaigns to damage our party, the forfeiture of the assets of the former President Yahya Jammeh is selective, hasty, ill-advised and illegal,” he said.
Jatta, a former majority of the National Assembly lamented that Attorney General continues to ill-advice the President against the APRC and Babili Mansa.
Jatta stressed that the Janneh Commission is not a court and cannot authorize forfeiture of assets belonging to the former President.
