The Shadow Masters: Cabals and the Whispered Governance of Nigeria
ABUJA, Nigeria, 26 October 2018-/African Media Agency/-On Monday October 22, 2018, as guest speaker at the 34th convocation lecture of University of Ilorin, U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria W. Stuart Symington challenged graduating students to be good representatives of the university by making sure that whatever they do, they do it well. His theme was “Citizen Leadership and the Link between Economic Diversity and Democratic Good Governance”. The Ambassador said he was confident that the graduating men and women would use their skills to positively shape Nigeria.
Earlier on, the Ambassador during a courtesy visit on the Kwara State Governor Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, noted that young people are Nigeria’s greatest resource. As to the forthcoming elections, the Ambassador hopes for three things. First; that the elections reflect the peace that’s in the heart of every Nigerian. Second; that the elections reflect Nigerians’ vision for the future, as that will shape how citizens and elected officials will work together, and third; that the conversation will not just be about what is wrong, but also about what is right and how to grow it.
The Ambassador also paid a courtesy visit on Emir Gambari, on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner and on the State Commissioner of Police.
