BAMAKO, Mali, August 28, 2018,-/African Media Agency (AMA)/- Deputy Humanitarian Chief to Visit the Mali 28 to 31 August 2018:

WHERE: Bamako, Mopti
Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator, Ursula Mueller, will visit the Republic of Mali from 28 to 31 August.
More than 5 million people in Mali require humanitarian assistance in a crisis driven by conflicts and the agro-pastoral crisis in the Sahel this year.
Ms. Mueller is expected to meet with people in the most affected communities of Mali, as well as Government officials, humanitarian partners and other stakeholders to better understand the humanitarian and protection needs in Mali.
She is expected to advocate for immediate and longer-term responses to alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable people in Mali and encourage the scaling up of initiatives to help communities better cope with future shocks.
