AFC stimule l’expansion de New Age grâce à un nouvel investissement

LAGOS, Nigeria, 01 juillet 2016,-/African Media Agency (AMA)/- L’Africa Finance Corporation (” AFC ») est l’arrangeur principal d’une facilité de prêt mezzanine senior plafonnée à 425 millions de dollars pour New Age (African Global Energy) Limited (” New Age »), une société à capital privé d’exploration, de développement et de production pétrolière dont les actifs se trouvent principalement en Afrique, afin qu’elle puisse consolider ses actifs existants et agrandir ses opérations. L’AFC investit 75 millions de dollars US dans cet accord.

Le consortium prêteur et l’AFC déboursent immédiatement un montant initial de 350 millions de dollars US de la facilité, et mettent également à disposition un ” accordéon » permettant d’ajouter 75 millions de dollars US de capital par la suite. Grâce à cet investissement, New Age sera en mesure de refinancer une facilité de prêt existante, de développer des projets au Nigéria, dans la République du Congo et d’étendre ses opérations dans plusieurs autres pays d’Afrique. Les prêteurs incluent notamment EIG Global Energy Partners, et un Fonds souverain basé au Moyen-Orient.

New Age compte augmenter la production de sa gamme de haute qualité dans l’ensemble du continent avec ce prêt. La société a déjà fait des progrès notables pour atteindre ses objectifs de croissance. À titre d’exemple, en tant qu’exploitant technique du champ Aje d’OML 113 au Nigéria, elle est devenue première productrice pétrolière en visant 11 000 barils par jour, faisant ainsi officiellement de Lagos un État producteur de pétrole. Le champ Aje est aussi considéré comme un potentiel fournisseur pétrolier majeur pour les projets énergétiques et industriels de Lagos. De plus, New Age est devenu premier producteur au cours des deux dernières années dans les champs marins offshore de Litchendjili et Nene, dans les eaux du Congo-Brazzaville.

” La volatilité récente de l’industrie du pétrole a été source de défis, mais l’AFC reste convaincue que le marché actuel fournit des opportunités pour les investisseurs à long terme sur l’ensemble de la chaîne de valeur.

New Age a connu ces dernières années un succès d’exploitation considérable dans ses implantations pan-africaines. Nous souhaitons les aider à bâtir sur ces fondations à l’avenir. La société dispose d’une base d’actionnaires bien capitalisée, désormais complétée par un nouveau financement par des institutions financières du meilleur niveau avec un long historique d’investissement dans des projets pétroliers internationaux : un signe fort de la confiance suscitée par leur business model, et une assurance de la capacité de New Age à mener à bien de futurs projets de capitaux à grande échelle. Les prêteurs du consortium travaillent aussi avec New Age pour améliorer davantage la gouvernance d’entreprise robuste.
