NTL FCStone Ltd, working with the support of the Government of Kenya and the Nairobi Securities Exchange, will engage the East African financial sector in a seminar, Commodity Trading and Risk Management, on 14-15 June 2016 at the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club in Nairobi, Kenya

NEW YORK, United States of America,  — INTL FCStone Inc. , a leader in the development of specialized financial services in commodities, securities, global payments, foreign exchange and other markets, today announced that its London-based subsidiary, INTL FCStone Ltd, working with the support of the Government of Kenya and the Nairobi Securities Exchange, will engage the East African financial sector, government institutions, and the private sector in a seminar, Commodity Trading and Risk Management, on 14-15 June 2016 at the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club in Nairobi, Kenya.

With agricultural production lying at the heart of Kenya’s economy, the two-day seminar will target key industry players including commodity buyers and sellers, commercial banks that manage clients’ risk, operators of exchanges, stock brokers and traders, as well as policy formulators, policy regulators and other interested parties. INTL FCStone said the seminar will provide participants with an overview of what creates a successful commodities market and the various functions and players involved. “We are looking to involve and engage with senior people to give interested parties a vision and overview of what a structured commodity market could look like,” said Stuart Ponder, Senior Vice-President for Emerging Markets at INTL FCStone. Along with Mr. Ponder, INTL FCStone will bring an experienced global market team from its trading desks in London who will share their day-to-day experience providing a rich resource base for participants.

The interactive program, which is being run with support from four partner ministries of the Government of Kenya, will give participants an opportunity to gain better insight on how to set up and operate structured commodity trading to better enhance investment and improve returns in Kenya and East Africa. The seminar will also focus on derivative products at a time when the Nairobi Securities Exchange, a partner in helping deliver the event, is introducing derivative contracts.

The partnering government ministries are the Ministry of Labour and East African Affairs, the Ministry of Mining, the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Treasury. Other partners will include Kenya Investment Authority, Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), Cereal Growers Association, Commercial Bank of Africa, East African Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, East Africa Farmers Federation, East Africa Exchange, East Africa Grain Council, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Trade Mark East Africa.
