By Ajong Mbapndah L As part of activities to mark 50 years of independence, the De Beers of Companies is partnering with Government agencies on a symposium in Chicago to promote foreign direct investment in Botswana. Working with the Ministry of Trade and Investment, Energy and Water Resources, the Botswana Development Corporation, Business Botswana, and the Botswana Trade and Investment Center, the symposium is expected to provide investment opportunities fully supported by the government. Under the theme 50 years forward, the symposium will facilitate opportunities for collaboration on investing in Botswana. In a phone interview, Anthony Carroll, Vice President of Manchester Trade Ltd, and facilitator of the symposium described the investment climate in Botswana as one of the best in Africa. Besides celebrating success in the partnership between De Beers and the government of Botswana, Carroll indicated that the investment symposium will help to set the stage for even greater investments in the next fifty years. In addition to a Q and A session with Kitso Mokaila, Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources and representative of the government, participants at the symposium will be treated to a Macroeconomic overview, opportunities for economic diversification and investment opportunities in infrastructure, diamonds and tourism. https://soundcloud.com/multimedia-podcast/government-of-botswana-the-de-beers-group-of-companies-inward-investment-symposium-in-chicago Full program can be seen here. For more information on the Symposium , Contact Anthony Carroll .email: tonycarroll77@gmail.com , tel.: 240. 938.1700
