Speaking in a mixture of Runyankore and English, Mr Museveni said the Opposition has failed to give alternatives for wealth creation but only oppose what the NRM does.
“The Opposition are like wolves lurking around to tear Uganda apart. I will not allow them because I have support of the majority of Ugandans and my army. Why can’t they tell Ugandans alternatives on wealth creation instead of preaching the gospel that I must leave power? If I go, will you get out of poverty?” Mr Museveni charged before adding: “I will not give them chance,” he added.
The President was on Wednesday addressing residents of Rukiga County in Kabale district.
He praised former Forum for Democratic Change party treasurer and MP for Rukiga Mr Jack Sabiiti for welcoming him to his constituency and also speaking in a “good language.” Museveni promised to fulfill Sabiiti’s requests for constituency development.
Mr Sabiiti had hailed Museveni for causing development in Rukiga, especially provision of electricity, clean water and good feeder roads. He requested the President to support the completion of Muhanga Progressive Secondary School which is under construction and Nyeikunama Primary School. He crowned his pleas with praising Museveni as a good leader.
Resident call off demo President Museveni commissioned the construction of a 2.4km road section connecting Kabale Town to Kisoro and Mbarara, which forced residents to call off their earlier plans of demonstrating over the bad state of the road.
Head of corporate communication at Uganda National Roads Authority, Dan Alinange said construction of the road would take six months and cost about Shs8b. During his visit in Kabale, Museveni also commissioned a Shs3.5b gravity water scheme at Kakomo in Kitumba Sub-county in Ndorwa West constituency.
He paid tribute to the family of freedom fighter Frank Kalimuzo who was murdered during the Idi Amin regime in the 1970s.

He promised to promote Muko Sub County into an industrial area since it has got a lot of minerals such as iron ore and wolfram. He advised the youths against HIV/AIDS.
