New office brings specialised inspection, NDT and safety training services closer to Mozambique’s expanding oil and gas operations while investing in internationally certified local expertise.

Techdrilling Specialized Solutions is strengthening its footprint in Mozambique’s oil and gas services industry with the inauguration of a new operational office in Muxara, Pemba, bringing critical inspection, testing and occupational health and safety training services closer to clients in Cabo Delgado.

The new office, located at Regis Facilities, represents an important step in the growth of the Mozambican company and reinforces its commitment to supporting operators and contractors with locally available technical expertise. From its Pemba base, Techdrilling will be better positioned to respond quickly to clients in Pemba, Afungi and surrounding areas, where timely inspections, certification and workforce competency are essential to safe and efficient operations.

Founded in Pemba, Techdrilling Specialized Solutions has built its business around the inspection of lifting equipment and a broad range of equipment used across industrial and oil and gas operations. Its services cover cranes, hoists, slings, chains and other rigging equipment, as well as CSC containers, CCUs and offshore containers.

Its technical capabilities extend to the inspection of drilling and completion equipment, including DD, MWD and LWD systems, well commanders, jars, mud guards, casing and tubing, blowout preventers (BOPs) and other well-control equipment. Techdrilling also provides services covering mud systems and filtration units, alongside visual inspection of production Christmas trees and wellheads.

Beyond equipment inspection, the company delivers training programmes aimed at strengthening workers’ competence in the safe operation of lifting equipment and promoting stronger occupational health and safety practices across industrial workplaces.

With a team of 15 workers, Techdrilling is currently providing occupational health and safety training, lifting equipment inspection and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) services, with operations concentrated particularly in Afungi, Pemba and Maputo.

According to Farido Aly, Project Manager at Techdrilling Specialized Solutions, the decision to establish the operational office in Pemba reflects a practical understanding of the demands facing companies operating in a fast-moving oil and gas environment.

“We understand the existing rush in personnel competency before they begin working. We understand that sometimes the clients are in a hurry to have their equipment inspected so they can safely operate them. This is the reason why we have inaugurated this office, to rapidly respond to our clients’ needs and be close to them,” Aly said.

That proximity matters in an industry where equipment inspection, certification and workforce competency are directly linked to operational safety and project efficiency. By maintaining a local operational base, Techdrilling aims to shorten response times, improve accessibility and give clients quicker access to specialised technical services when they are needed.

Techdrilling is investing in internationally recognised qualifications to strengthen the capabilities of Mozambican inspectors and engineers.

Investing in Mozambican Expertise

The expansion is also about people. One of the highlights of the inauguration ceremony was the presentation of LEEA certifications and badges to two Techdrilling inspectors, marking another step in the company’s effort to build internationally recognised technical expertise among Mozambican professionals.

LEEA, the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association, is a United Kingdom-based organisation whose training and qualifications are recognised across the lifting equipment industry. For Techdrilling, supporting Mozambican engineers and inspectors in obtaining internationally recognised qualifications is part of a broader strategy to build a local workforce capable of competing and delivering at demanding industry standards.

The company’s credentials also include LEEA accreditation, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification, as well as membership of SAIOSH, the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.

The ENH-Linkar Project has provided Techdrilling with a platform to showcase its capabilities and deepen its participation in Mozambique’s energy value chain.

Together, these credentials support Techdrilling’s work in occupational health and safety, environmental management and lifting equipment inspection, while reinforcing its commitment to operating in line with recognised industry standards.

This combination of local knowledge and internationally recognised technical competence is particularly important in oil and gas, where complex equipment, demanding operating environments and high-risk activities place safety, inspection and workforce competency at the heart of successful operations.

Supporting Mozambique’s Oil and Gas Ambitions

The opening of the Pemba office comes at an important moment for Mozambique’s oil and gas industry. Cabo Delgado remains at the centre of some of the country’s most significant energy developments, creating opportunities for specialised technical service providers, skilled professionals and competitive Mozambican suppliers.

Techdrilling is positioning itself within this growing ecosystem, demonstrating how local companies can move beyond simply participating in the energy value chain to developing the technical capabilities, qualifications and service standards required to compete for increasingly specialised work.

The company reached another milestone in July when it was invited to share its experience as a local-content success story promoted through the ENH Linkar project at an event organised under the initiative.

The platform gave Techdrilling an opportunity to showcase its experience while highlighting the possibilities available to Mozambican companies seeking to enter and grow within the oil and gas industry. For emerging local businesses, initiatives of this kind can help bridge the gap between opportunity and participation by improving understanding of industry requirements, facilitating relationships and exposing companies to the standards expected by major operators and contractors.

Techdrilling’s trajectory underlines a wider point about Mozambique’s local-content ambitions: sustainable participation requires more than access to contracts. It also requires investment in specialised skills, recognised qualifications, technical capacity and the ability to deliver reliably when projects and clients demand it.

Local Content Built on Capability

The inauguration of the Pemba office is therefore more than the opening of another business location. It represents Techdrilling’s effort to build a stronger local service platform around three priorities — proximity to clients, internationally recognised technical competence and continued investment in Mozambican professionals.

With capabilities spanning lifting equipment inspection, Non-Destructive Testing, occupational health and safety training and specialised oil and gas equipment inspection, the company is building a service offering designed to respond to a broad range of industrial requirements.

For Techdrilling, local content means building the skills, qualifications and technical capabilities of Mozambican professionals.

As Mozambique’s oil and gas sector develops, the opportunity for local companies will increasingly be matched by expectations around safety, quality, technical competence and timely delivery. Techdrilling Specialized Solutions is seeking to position itself on that foundation, demonstrating that local content can also mean specialised expertise, internationally recognised standards and dependable services delivered close to where projects are taking place.

For Techdrilling, Pemba provides the natural base for that ambition. The new office brings inspection and training capabilities closer to some of Mozambique’s most important energy developments while creating a platform for the company to continue investing in the skills and qualifications of Mozambican professionals.

The objective, according to the company’s leadership, remains practical and focused: to be available when clients need its services, help ensure equipment is inspected and operated safely, and contribute to a generation of competent Mozambican professionals equipped to meet the demands of the country’s growing energy and industrial sectors.
