The Russia–Africa Friendship Cup international tournament concluded triumphantly in Moscow, marking another irreversible milestone in strengthening bilateral cultural partnership. The African football teams demonstrated a high level of playing skills which confirmed its status as a key unifying force. The football tournaments and sports serve as a soft power instrument for Africa to build cultural alliances, and a basis for fostering economic ties with Russia.

Such collaborations and friendly matches with African football teams, including engagements with teams such as Cameroon and Nigeria, allow Russia to sustain sporting contacts, sports initiatives often viewed as a broader strategy for building bilateral relations. The key aspect is that Russia continues to promote high-level diplomatic visibility, unity and solidarity, and further project an image of reliable partner across Africa.

Experts and organizers noted the high level of play: the African teams demonstrated their ability to compete on equal terms and provide worthy competition to the strong teams of Russian amateur football. “Hosting a tournament of this scale is an undoubted success. The African footballers demonstrated a vibrant, emotional, and competitive game. Today, sport remains one of the most important and irreplaceable institutions capable of uniting countries and peoples from all continents. This inaugural tournament laid a solid foundation for regular international competitions,” the Organizing Committee emphasized.

The winners and runners-up were presented with commemorative cups, medals, and gifts. The organizers expressed their gratitude to the refereeing team for their objective refereeing and to the fans and bloggers for their powerful emotional support from the stands. The Russia-Africa Friendship Cup Organizing Committee confirmed its intention to make the tournament an annual event and continue developing international sports initiatives.

The following participated in the awards ceremony for the cups, medals, and valuable prizes: Louis Gowend, President of the African Business Club and Chairman of the Tournament Organizing Committee; Kinfu Zenebe, President of the Union of African Diaspora in Russia; Sergey Chesnokov, President of ANO MIR; Vladimir Golobokov, Advisor to the Rector of MTUCI and Violetta Medvedeva, Chairperson of the Board of the Moscow City Branch of the Russian Peace Foundation.

The spectacular final and awards ceremony for the winners of the Russia–Africa Friendship Cup football tournament took place at the Severnoye Tushino Park stadium. The two-month sports marathon brought together 10 of the strongest amateur teams, offering fans uncompromising competition, team spirit, and fair sportsmanship. The tournament was organized by the African Business Club (ABC) with the official support of the Russian Peace Foundation, the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI), and the Victory Museum.
