Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of INEC, made this announcement on Monday at a meeting with the 18 political party leaders taking place at the commission's Abuja headquarters. Yakubu said that, primarily for security reasons, no newly registered voters selected the polling places and that, during the most recent continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise, no electors expressed an interest in shifting to them. This implies that there won't be any elections in these voting places, explained Yakubu. He disclosed the whereabouts of the voting places in the states of Edo, Kwara, Rivers, Zamfara, and Imo. He asserts that Imo State, with 28 polling units, has the highest percentage.
