By Samuel Ouma Kenya’s National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) has distanced itself from allegations circulating on social media, insinuating that its database has been erased. NHIF described the claims as false and misleading in a statement posted on its social media platforms. It assured Kenyans that the database is intact and has not been tampered with in any way, as alleged in the various social media posts. “NHIF would like to appeal to the public to disregard the misleading social media posts. NH F continues to deliver quality health insurance services, including regular member access in contracted hospitals across the country, based on information captured in the database,” read part of the statement. The parastatal asked its members to interrogate the database and check the history of their contributions through available self-care platforms to know the truth. The platforms are USSD code *155#, 'My NH F' App, web portal www.NHIF.or.ke, or SMS to the NHIF shortcode 1550. The primary objective of the NHIF is to provide all Kenyan citizens with high-quality, sustainable, and affordable health insurance.
