The ranking sees no change of the position held by Cameroon with that of November. in the world rankings, Cameroon is still placed at the 50th position. The team has not played any game in December and this is partly to account for no change in position for the side. Cameroon did play games in November which was the qualification games for the FIFA Qatar 2022 World Cup. Cameroon thrashed Malawi 4-0 before going to pick up all three points against Ivory Coast (1-0) in the last group games. Next month promises to be stack for Cameroon who is preparing to host the upcoming edition of the AFCON. The country that goes to the tournament has called up a strong 28-man squad looking to win the title for the sixth time. January is also going to be an important month for Cameroon as that ranking is going to determine if Cameroon has an easy road to Qatar World Cup. This is because the knockout phase of the 2022 World Cup for the ten remaining teams will factor in their January ranking before the teams are seeded. Defending AFCON Champions Algeria is the only country to gain a position in the top ten. In the November ranking, Algeria was placed fourth and now occupies the third position heading into the AFCON. Senegal continues to lead the Africa rankings (20 in the world) followed by Morocco (28 in the world). Tunisia is fourth (30), Nigeria fifth (36) and Ghana is eight (52). Mali is placed ninth (53) and Ivory Coast rounds off the top ten (56).
