This was contained in a statement released by the authority to the media over the weekend.
According to the statement public health facilities received an amount of GH₵106.4 million, representing 51.3 per cent of the payments while Private Service Providers had GH₵57.8 million, which is about 27.9 per cent.
Also, the Mission Health Facilities got GHC40.2million, representing 19.4 per cent while quasi-government service providers received GHS2.9 million, representing 1.4 per cent of the total payments made so far.
Claims paid this year
Again, according to the statement, the NHIA has paid out a total of GHC363.9 million to service providers, so far, in 2020
The payments were made to reduce the outstanding claims owed the health service providers to ensure that the public continued to receive quality healthcare across the country.
Additionally, the statement further discloses that the Minister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, has made available an amount of GHC300 million to the Authority as part of efforts to provide liquidity to healthcare providers and the pharmaceutical industry to help fight the coronavirus pandemic currently facing the country.
In line with the lockdown, all NHIS District Offices outside the locked down areas have been directed to operate at a reduced capacity.
Claims Processing Centres
As a result of this, four Claims Processing Centres throughout the country have been directed to receive manual claims invoices by appointment whereas electronic claims submissions could be made online at any time.
Furthermore, NHIS members have also been advised to renew their membership promptly by dialing *929# from any mobile network with a mobile wallet to enjoy uninterrupted healthcare services.
It further added that Health Minister, Mr Kwaku Agyemang Manu, has approved the revised NHIS Medicines List and its implementation started on April 1.
This, the statement says, is in accordance with NHI Act 2012, (Act 852) section 33, subsection 2.
The approved Medicines list will be available on the NHIS website – www.nhis.gov.gh.
