During the private investor meeting, MA announced the establishment of the Global Ethiopian Investment Council (GEIC), which will serve as a forum to promote investment in Ethiopia and guide members in navigating market opportunities. The event took place two weeks ahead of Prime Minister Abiy’s first visit to the US on July 27-29. The reception, co-hosted by Admiral James Stavridis, Chairman of MA’s Board of Counselors and former Supreme Allied Commander of NATO, Ambassador Reuben E. Brigety II, member of MA’s Board of Counselors and former US Ambassador to the African Union, and Eliot Pence, Senior Director of MA’s Africa Practice, gathered more than 30 leaders of Ethiopian and American businesses to discuss unique investment opportunities in Ethiopia amidst the historic economic and political changes that have transpired in Prime Minister Abiy’s first hundred days in office.
