How will Buhari’s cabinet fix Nigeria’s problems?

November 12, 2015

By Al Jazeera

President Muhammadu Buhari swore-in his cabinet of 36 ministers on Wednesday, bringing hope that the government can start tackling the many problems facing Nigeria – including a weak economy, widespread corruption, and security concerns brought on by Boko Haram.

Buhari has said he will take on the oil minister role himself.

And the situation has many wondering: If it took almost half-a-year to get this far; will Buhari and his new cabinet be able to resolve Nigeria's economic, defense and energy problems before they get worse?

Presenter: Martine Dennis

Guests:

Aliyu Musa – Political Analyst, working on a book on Boko Haram.

James Schneider – Senior Correspondent for New African Magazine. James has covered the Nigerian elections and Boko Haram.

Simi Fajemirokun – Writer, Political Analyst and Education Advocate.
